The Silva Military Compass 4 6400/360 is a full-sized, professional-grade navigation tool designed for military personnel, rescue teams, and experienced outdoor enthusiasts who require precision and reliability in demanding environments. Widely used by NATO forces, this compass is engineered to perform under extreme conditions, making it an essential instrument for accurate land navigation.​

The key difference between the Military Compass and the Expedition 4 Compass lies in their graduation systems. The Expedition 4 uses 360-degree graduation, which is the standard for most civilian navigation and map reading. In contrast, the Military Compass 4 is available in two formats: 360-degree or 6400 mils, the latter being the NATO standard. The mils version allows for finer directional readings - useful in artillery, reconnaissance, and other tactical operations where precision is critical.

Additionally, the Military Compass 4 features more robust housing, greater shock resistance, and slightly brighter luminous markings to support night-time operations. It’s designed to withstand tougher field conditions, making it ideal for military personnel and extreme environments.

The base-plate includes multiple Romer scales (1:25k, 1:40k, 1:50k), millimeter and inch rulers, and a magnifying lens, facilitating precise map work and GPS positioning. Silicon friction feet provide stability on maps, preventing slippage during use. For low-light conditions, the compass is equipped with luminous markings that, after exposure to light, glow for up to four hours, aiding in night navigation.

Built to withstand harsh environments, the compass operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C and altitudes up to 5000 meters. It boasts an IP68 waterproof rating, ensuring functionality even after submersion in water. The device is also impact-resistant, capable of withstanding drops from 1.5 meters onto gravel surfaces. Weighing just 36 grams and measuring 126 x 60 x 10 mm, it is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry during extended expeditions.
